I've been working on a couple of drawings in preparation for 2014. Still working out a couple of details, but there should be a couple of shows in the next coming months....will keep you posted. But below are two new drawings that you can check out.
Last weekend, I conducted a talk and workshop in conjunction with the Singapore Biennale at the Singapore Art Museum. For the talk, I did a brief presentation of the stuff that I've been doing since 2005. That was a whole lotta fun. The workshop component was pretty rad, too. I had the participants create a mask that best represent who they are. It was a pretty basic mask, made from art card but the whole idea was to subvert this idea of what a mask is....as something that is used to conceal someone's identity and to turn it into a vehicle to tell the whole world who you really are, but was afraid to say for fear of judgement or consequence. The whole idea was pretty much based on this quote by Oscar Wilde which I really like and it goes something like this, "Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth". A huge thanks to all of the participants that came by...I had a great time. Big thanks to the Singapore Art Museum as well for making it happen. And just like that guy from Ghost Hunters would say, "On to the next." |
